History dress ups

Our Canadian history studies have landed us in the 50′s and 60′s so I was intrigued to hear of a shop in the Byward Market which is displaying and selling a selection of clothes which belonged to Miss Canada 1954.  We visited Victoire and had a little fun with some history which didn’t involve politics or battles.

What fun this excursion must have been. I have fond memories of Heather’s mother and L14′s Nanna wearing garments with similar features in the 1950′s and 60′s. Beautiful then and still attractive on the today’s models.

B8 didn’t find it quite as much fun as the rest of us, but he coped!

A12 actually tried on one of the swimsuits and struck a pose which was very fetching. She did not, however, give permission for that photo to go on the blog!

I’m a wee bit jealous. I think that in the near future I will become a Big Sister to some needy girl and have fun trying on clothes with her. It’s about as close to torture for the boys (and me!) to go clothes shopping together. I can’t even imagine suggesting that we do it just for the fun of it.
